Brian Johanson is the founding lead vocalist, acoustic guitarist, and primary songwriter behind Fort Collins’ high-brow honky-tonk outfit Sugar Britches. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience playing alt-country and honky-tonk music across Colorado and beyond, Brian crafts witty, heartfelt songs that mix classic country storytelling with clever humor and sharp lyrical twists. He has helped shape Sugar Britches’ signature sound and stage presence since the band formed in 2017, leading them through multiple album releases—including Don’t Make Her a Mixtape Yet You Idiot (2019) and No One Cares That It’s Your Birthday (2022)—and earning them showcases, radio recognition, and opening slots for major touring acts. Offstage, Brian is known for his introspective songwriting process and for blending humor with emotional depth in his music, drawing inspiration from traditional country roots while keeping a modern, irreverent edge that resonates with audiences.
