About

David Vacek is a Fort Collins–based music promoter, broadcaster, and creative collaborator with deep ties to Colorado’s independent music community. Over many years working in community radio, he played a significant role helping KRFC 88.9 FM grow its profile and reach through on-air programming, volunteer coordination, and curated music showcases that supported emerging Colorado artists. During his time at KRFC he created, hosted, and produced several shows, such as NoCo Flow and the live performance series Live@Lunch—that highlighted local and regional musicians and brought live studio sessions to listeners across the region. Since his departure from KRFC, David has continued working at the intersection of music and media, helping independent artists connect with airplay opportunities across community stations and building promotional avenues that amplify voices outside mainstream channels. His work today blends creative production, artist advocacy, and collaborative projects that support vibrant, grassroots musical expression. As an artist himself, he performs and releases music under the project Monkey Paw Finger, showcasing his own songwriting and performance alongside his broader community involvement. In November 2024, David participated as a performer with Cowbell Collective during their The Last Waltz Again vol 5 production, bringing his musical energy to a collaborative tribute to The Band. Blending radio experience, artist support, and creative output, David Vacek remains a recognized figure in Northern Colorado’s music landscape.
