About
A Fort Collins native since the age of three, Dave Wisbon has spent most of his life growing alongside the local music scene that helped shape him. Often regarded as a future mayor of Fort Collins, he is equally known for a life rich with experiences, leading friends to affectionately say, “hashtag life of Wisbon.” Long before Fort Collins was widely known as a regional music hub, Dave was already soaking it in, attending the earliest NewWestFests, catching bands like The Atoll at Linden Street venues, and watching a creative culture take root in real time. Those formative years instilled a deep respect for live music as a shared experience and as a community anchor, something that continues to guide his work today. Dave began piano lessons in third grade and later expanded his musical foundation through band programs at Cache La Poudre Middle School and Poudre High School. What started as structured instruction quickly turned into exploration. While still young, he helped form a traditional Irish band with friends, an early sign of both his curiosity and his willingness to collaborate. From that point on, live music was no longer just an interest. It became a lifelong pursuit. Over the decades, Dave has become one of the most recognizable and dependable musicians in Northern Colorado. He spent twenty years with The Waido Experience and ten years with Switchman Sleepin’, contributing not only his musicianship but also his steady presence and commitment to the long haul. His versatility has allowed him to move fluidly between projects and genres, making him a sought-after collaborator for artists across the scene. Whether performing with Uncle Jesse’s Blues Skillet, Grace Kuch, or Sean Waters and Sunrise Genius, Dave brings a grounded, generous approach that elevates the entire bandstand. Dave’s relationship with Cowbell Collective runs deep. As an organization dedicated to supporting musicians, building sustainable opportunities, and strengthening the Northern Colorado music ecosystem, Cowbell Collective thrives on artists who understand the value of community over competition. Dave embodies that ethos. He has participated in numerous Cowbell Collective productions and benefit events and has become a familiar and trusted presence within its extended family of musicians, organizers, and supporters. His ongoing involvement reflects a shared belief that live music flourishes best when artists actively invest in one another. One of Dave’s most cherished contributions is his repeated participation in Cowbell Collective’s Last Waltz performances, where he has appeared as a performer for five years. These shows, held at venues like The Lyric Theatre, celebrate not only the music itself but also the collaborative spirit behind it. Dave’s return year after year speaks to both his musical reliability and his genuine love for projects that bring people together around shared musical history. Always curious and never content to stand still, Dave continues to seek out new musical avenues that challenge him and keep him growing. For him, improvement is not about reinvention for its own sake but about staying engaged, staying open, and staying connected to the road ahead. His career is a testament to consistency, collaboration, and the quiet power of showing up again and again for the music and the community that surrounds it. For Cowbell Collective, Dave Wisbon is more than a performer. He is a living thread in the fabric of Fort Collins music, a musician whose story mirrors the evolution of the scene itself and whose presence continues to help sustain it for the next generation.
