About This Event

Jerry Fest (JerryFest) was a one-night, community-powered celebration of the music, spirit, and enduring legacy of Jerry Garcia, held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the iconic Mishawaka Amphitheatre in the Poudre Canyon just outside Fort Collins, Colorado. Produced by Cowbell Collective and KRFC 88.9, the event reflected the collective’s core mission as a creative incubator, centered on collaboration, experimentation, and the belief that art thrives when people build it together. Set within the natural grandeur of the canyon, Jerry Fest unfolded as a fully immersive musical experience featuring an all-star roster of 23 Colorado-based musicians. Rather than following a traditional concert format, the evening was structured as three expansive sets with a rotating cast of players. This approach encouraged unexpected musical pairings, spontaneous improvisation, and a constantly evolving soundscape. Musicians connected to beloved Front Range and Colorado jam and roots projects, including Dead Floyd, Tumbledown Shack, and Switchman Sleepin’, shared the stage, dissolving the boundaries between bands and transforming the performance into a unified tribute. As the night progressed, weather that had threatened earlier in the day gave way to a dramatic clearing, revealing a glowing mountain sunset that felt perfectly timed. Music echoed off the canyon walls as the Poudre River rushed nearby, while the audience leaned fully into the communal energy that defines Grateful Dead culture. Singalongs, open dancing, and a palpable sense of togetherness turned the concert into something deeper than a show. It felt like a gathering, a reunion, and a shared ritual rooted in joy and connection. Special guest appearances by Michael Kirkpatrick and Boots Jaffee added to the sense of occasion, while the collaborative nature of the rotating sets kept both musicians and audience engaged and surprised throughout the evening. The celebration culminated in a full-stage encore, with the entire ensemble joining together in a powerful and joyful finale that captured the heart of Jerry Fest. Jerry Fest stood as a living example of Cowbell Collective’s vision as a project incubator for art in all of its forms. By bringing artists together across projects and creative lineages, the event honored Jerry Garcia not only through the music itself, but through the values behind it. Openness, community, risk-taking, and shared expression defined the night, proving that the music never stops and that the creative spirit continues to grow when it is nurtured collectively.
