About

Taylor Tessler is a multi-instrumentalist and one of Northern Colorado’s most versatile musicians. Based in Fort Collins, he is equally at home on upright bass, electric bass, guitar, and vocals, and his musical sensitivity and strong groove make him a highly sought-after collaborator across local genres. Taylor is a core member of Ansel and the Brain Tattoos, where his bass and mandolin work help anchor the trio’s tight harmonies, energetic arrangements, and genre-bending acoustic sound. He also plays with West Side Joe and the Men of Soul, bringing depth and feel to the band’s blues-and-soul-infused rock. In both ensembles, his playing shapes the rhythm and contributes to rich onstage interplay. Beyond these groups, Taylor’s bass, guitar, and vocal work has appeared with many Northern Colorado artists. He played bass and contributed vocals on Casey Abrams’ Put a Spell on You album and toured as part of Casey’s trio, bringing his fluid playing to national stages with the singer-songwriter and American Idol alum. He has also worked on recordings and live performances with artists in the region’s roots, rock, and Americana communities. In 2023, Taylor mixed and mastered the inaugural NoCo Sings the Holidays album, a community project that brought together musicians for a seasonal celebration. His performance at the live event and his engineering work on the album and helped shape the sound and capture the spirit of the performances. Taylor’s combination of technical skill, musical curiosity, and collaborative spirit has made him a fixture of the Front Range music scene. Whether locking in a groove on upright bass, trading vocals, or stepping forward with guitar, he brings musicality and heart to every performance.
